On September 5, Reps. James Oberstar (D-MN) and Steven LaTourette (R-OH) circulated a "Dear Colleague" letter requesting Members support on a letter to the President asking him to release the remaining balance of $151.5 million in the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) contingency fund. The President has until September 30 to do so, or $131 million of the balance in the contingency fund will expire.
On behalf of NEPPA, Morgan Meguire contacted New England House Members to encourage them to sign onto the LIHAP letter. As a result, many members including, Reps. DeLauro (D-CT), John Olver (D-MA), Richard Neal (D-MA), Mike Michaud (D-ME), James McGovern (D-MA), John Larson (D-CT), James Langevin (D-RI), Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Paul Hodes (D-NH), Barney Frank (D-MA), Tom Allen (D-ME) and William Delahunt (D-MA), agreed to do so.
The deadline for signatories is close of business, September 12.
