Senior Congressional staff are saying that Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) will likely bring legislation to the Senate floor again next week to extend various tax incentives for clean energy development, individuals, and businesses. The vote would be the last before the August Congressional recess. So far, various efforts to extend the tax incentives have resulted in partisan stalemates over whether or not to offset the incentives with corresponding spending cuts. The tax incentives at issue are the production tax credit for renewable energy, investment tax credit for solar power, and the Clean Renewable Energy Bond (CREB) program, among other things. Baucus has been aggressively reaching out to Republicans in search of gaining more votes and stakeholder groups are ramping up their communications in support of the extensions.
