New England Capitol Hill Staff Changes

A number of New England congressional staff are on the move.  Heather Zichal, Legislative Director for Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), has been hired to be the Energy Advisor to the Barak Obama presidential campaign.  Kathleen Frangione will continue to handle the energy and environmental issues for the Senator.

David McIntosh, Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-CT) top climate change staffer will be leaving Capitol Hill mid-September.  McIntosh, who has been with Lieberman since 2006, was a friend of public power and will be sorely missed.  McIntosh previously worked as Maryland's assistant attorney general and at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).  After his departure, he plans to do some consulting work on climate, before he looks for a permanent job in January 2009.  Ellen Cohen, Lieberman's Congressional Science Fellow, will be handling energy and environmental issues until a permanent staff person is hired.

Another Northeast staff move includes Jim Bradley, Legislative Director for Rep. Tom Allen (D-ME).  He will be taking a leave of absence from Allen's congressional office to go work on the Congressman's campaign.  Rep. Allen is challenging two-term Maine Senator Susan Collins (R) for her U.S. Senate seat.  While Bradley is on the campaign, Ellen Bolen, a legislative fellow, will be handling energy and environmental issues for the Congressman.

Finally, after ten years, Brian Daniels, Legislative Director for Rep. James Langevin (D-RI), will be leaving Capitol Hill to attend the MBA program at Yale.  His replacement is Rachael Bornstein, who previously handled energy issues for Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), so she will already be familiar with the New England energy landscape.
