In continued efforts to aid company
pension plans impacted by the economic downturn, more than 300 organizations,
including the American Public Power Association (APPA), sent a letter on
November 12 to the House Ways and Means Committee, the House Education and
Labor Committee, the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Health, Education,
Labor and Pensions Committee asking for immediate legislative fixes to the Pension Protection Act during the "lame
duck" session.
As previously reported, APPA and
others sent a similar letter last month asking Congress to consider amending
the Act to allow employers more
flexibility, to ensure they can meet their plans' funding obligations.
